چکیده

The general form of PBFs corresponding to one weight WM filters, which are a subclass of WM filters, is derived in this paper. Based on the results, it is straightforward to derive the corresponding PBF from a given one weight WM filter or vice versa. The results can also be used to check whether an PBF corresponds to an one weight WM filters. The checking procedure is very simple and tractable due to the fact that linear programming is not needed.

Binary Analysis of Center-weighted Median Filters

This paper focuses on the binary analysis of the center-weighted median (CWM) filters. This subclass of nonlinear stack filters is based on minimal positive Boolean functions (PBFs), the complexity of which depends on two parameters only, such as a window size and a weight of the central sample. It can be easily seen that the complexity of PBFs corresponding with CWMs increases with the increas...

High Density Impulse Noise Removal in Color Images Using Region of Interest Median Controlled Adaptive Recursive Weighted Median Filter

An Adaptive varying window size Recursive Weighted Median Filter [ARWMF] for removing the impulse noise in Color images is presented. The weights for the RWMF are calculated by using the median controlled algorithm. By applying Region of Interest [ROI] on selected windows the weight calculation’s efficiency can be increased and the memory will be reduced because of the ROI. In median controlled...

On Root Structures and Convergence Properties of Weighted Median Filters*

A weighted median filter is a nonlinear digital filter consisting of a window of length 2N + 1 and a weight vector W -(W-N . . . . . Wo . . . . . WN). A root signal of a median type filter is a signal that is invariant to the filter. However, not all weighted median filters possess the convergence property. In this paper, we shall study the root structures and the convergence behavior of a subc...

Circuits and Systems Exposition Weighted Median Filters: A Tutorial - Circuits and Systems II: Analog and Digital Signal Processing, IEEE Transactions on

Weighted Median (WM) filters have attracted a growing number of interest in the past few years. They inherent the robustness and edge preserving capability of the classical median filter and resemble linear FIR filters in certain properties. Furthermore, WM filters belong to the broad class of nonlinear filters called stack filters. This enables the use of the tools developed for the latter cla...

Fast algorithms for analyzing and designing weighted median filters

In this paper, two fast algorithms are developed to compute a set of parameters, called M;s, of weighted median filters for integer weights and real weights, respectively. The Mi’s, which characterize the statistical properties of weighted median filters and are the critical parameters in designing optimal weighted median filters, are defined as the cardinality of the positive subsets of weight...
